This is what I needed to hear. I am someone who is willing to work extremely hard and put every fiber of my being into what I do on YouTube. I don't care if it takes me 5 years 10 years 20 years if I can break through and reach my goals then it will be worth it. If anybody is reading this that is also a small YouTuber know that you can do it and that it's not impossible. Something that my uncle tells me and that I would like to share is that it's not about reaching the top of the mountain but it's about enjoying the climb on the way there. I agree of with him when he says if you can't deal with the problems of not being noticed how can you deal with the problems to keep your relevancy on the site. It's a long bumpy road for a small YouTubers but if we stick together encourage one another that we can do it then one day it will be worth wild don't give up because success is just around the corner.

I always love learning from you Roberto ! I have had my YouTube channel since 2011 and became serious about posting in 2017, that's when it started growing little by little. I have some videos do decent, and some do horrible but I feel it deep down that it will pay off. So I would definitely say it's not too late for myself. 🤗

I created my channel at the end of 2016, if I had thought it would be too late for me, today I would not have 10k subscribers, I know there are not many subscribers, but I am very happy with this goal, and until the beginning of 2020 I'll be 15k, I know it's not a huge success, but it's my achievement, and look it was very, very difficult to get here, and it is true, we do not compete with other breeders, we compete with our families, it is the wasted time we do not spend with children, friends, youtube teaches us to have persistence, patience and the necessary insistence, as you said, It separates the chaff from the wheat, only the strong and intelligent survive and reach their goals.Greetings from Brasil

I think this is a great time to start a new channel. YouTube is better than ever at finding and promoting videos from creators who consistently put out content that the audience likes. They are also better than ever at finding the right audience for your videos. We started in February 2018 and hit 100,000 subscribers almost exactly 18 months later. Believe it or not, there are a lot of channels hitting 100k much faster than we did.

I am either ignorant or naive enough to thing it is not too late. As someone that has had 3 "successful" failed NaNoWriMo attempts including last November, Camp in April & July, I think just making the attempt has familiarized myself with Scriverner, clued me into just how interesting my characters are & the drama I have planned for them & just how important using October to live that "Preptober" life. Last year, as I was failing my first attempt, I was enjoying Elizabeth Gilbert's Big Magic, in the past 11 months I am seeing a lot of insights in my creative journey. The book has clarified & given needed context to 2 books that have been important to my understanding of how I examine the world, Danny Gregory's Creative License & Betty Edwards' Drawing on the Artist Within. I am perceiving posting to YouTube as a form of illustrated journaling. Additionally, I think there are connections between the bullet journal movement & illustrated journaling. It is still an etherial connection, but the evidence is in the amazing spreads you see when you look at what is posted in IG. I think those amazing journal spreads are a manifestation of the creative reflex breaking out of the spartan Bullet Journal rubric.

May your creative reservoir be in the perpetual path of the deluge!

Never too late to start anything! and I no longer believe discouragement is a valid excuse to stop doing something I believe people are happiest whenever they are in pursuit of something wether your rich or poor there will always be a new goal or a new motive. Get comfortable with overcoming the uncomfortable and when u feel discouraged feel free to take a step back evaluate make sure ur doing what makes u happy gives u fulfillment then move forward

I have 2 years of creating videos for my channel. The content is something similar to this channel, but in my native language ( a small country with only 20 million population). I've gain subscribers, but the growth was never explosive . Do you think the 3-5 years "rule" can apply also to my situation?

It's not too late. There are always new opportunities, new waves of people, new trends even within niches. It's up to us to explore those and see what works, for us, for our audience, for our channel. It's also not too late for a channel to pick up. So I have a few active channels and a few where I post certain content but aren't very active. One of the videos on the inactive channels spiked in views, surpassing 300K in a lapse of 6 months. You never know when something is going to appeal to an audience, when something is going to become what people are looking for or what they want to watch. With creativity, we can go wherever we want to go. YouTube channels are opportunities for creativity and finding those who want to view it.

I do NOT believe it is too late to start a YouTube channel. There is a new Mukbanger that started 3 – 4 weeks ago and has over 5 thousand subscribers and thousands of views more than people who have been doing it for months even years. I think the important thing is to have a message and make good content for your audience. Know who you are speaking to and be clear on what you’re trying to get out there. Great video and awesome perspective ⭐️💫

This is such a good video. I think it’s a great time for sure. I think part of the reason is cus there’s so much more videos on advice that helps you grow a YouTube channel. Weather it’s niching down, thumbnails, getting recommended by keyword research, and more. Plus, can’t go back in the past, so no better time to start then now.

I think the question should be: Is it too late to be successful on YouTube?

That question beg a whole bunch of more questions.

But to answer the videos title – the only way it’s too late to start a YouTube channel is if YouTube said you can no longer create a new YouTube channel.

You need to define what success is for you and go for it!

As far the algorithm I do pretty well on ranking with almost no subscribers so I don't buy the algorithm bias for large channels you just need tools like tube buddy to help you out.

If I were to start a channel, I'd probably focus on other platforms than youtube. As you said, the difficulty level is not on easy mode – which is fine – but it has been set on easy mode for big corporations like CNN, Fox, Late night shows, Hollywood celebs, etc – unfair imo and an unwise move from youtube since this is also their competition; Many of the people I'm subscribed to are self-censoring their way of speaking in order not to get demonetized which I dislike very much, but I understand that the algorithm nowadays forces them to. Since I'm not crazy about getting famous, I'd focus on non-censorious platforms like Bitchute or Minds, I guess, probably youtube on the side (Bitchute auto-uploads your youtube vids if you want, so this sounds like a viable option)

For a while I was thinking I'd have one personal and self-employment channel and maybe a separate LLC/ORG channel. That was until I started thinking, maybe I should keep a personal channel and a self-employment channel as separate channels. My personal channel would already have mixed content, and I know views on any given video may vary and possibly greatly depending on content (video title). But I've been asking myself lately, should I really mix self-employment related videos with my personal videos? I also ask myself, why should I do it any way but my own… one channel? Why can't I live MY life, MY way, and do things… MY way – EVERYWHERE? (As long as it's legal.) Even my self-employment channel would have mixed content. I might occasionally purchase a product and promote it on a video from any given company I'm involved with. Hmmm…

As someone who is just starting up a narrative story telling channel; I can totally agree with what you are saying even though I just started out. It has taken a lot for me to get to 38 subscribers, but even if it is small to everyone else- it's massive to me. This video you made has actually inspired me to work much harder and potentially become a monetized creator one day. Thank you for this. I hope more people get to see your videos.

Y'all better listen because he is not speaking nonsense but the truth. The only way to get known on YouTube is to keep pushing through even if it feels like your not making any progress.

I started following Casey Neistat when he only had 3,000 subscribers. I showed his early work to some friends and they all thought he was nuts (including me for watching him)..now who's laughing..

Most time is never too late to do anything, but it would have been nice to buy apple stock in February 2009….. I feel like if I started just a year earlier and did exactly what I have done I would have 10x the success and it is not the ALGORITH, it is the the competition, every year there are more and more channels competing for the same viewership and there is so much time a viewer has.

No way it's never too late! 😁
"I'm not early enough. I wasn't here first" basically translates to "it's not easy enough. I want it handed to me" I really dig what you say about being worthy of peoples time. Anyone making videos, as long as your happy, you enjoy it and always challenge yourself to never stop improving what you do. Then you are worth the right peoples time. The right people just have to find you. 😁

I hope it’s not too late because I’m just starting. I’ve got time to wait and see. I remind myself that everyone has “old” videos so I keep telling myself I’m making my old videos right now lol I’m still learning how to do this and I need to learn how to edit on my iPhone. Maybe I’ll succeed someday and maybe I won’t but I want to and I’m trying!

    Thank you Roberto.
Couldn't agree more. Anyone can start at any point in time. Question is, are you willing to putt in the work, patience and persistence?
